the natural materials used will differ a bit because these are all natural
materials. Each item will be considered original because no knife is identical
to the other, they are handmade and the natural materials are never identical.
History of Damascus:
The Damascus steel blades are reputed to be not only
resistant but also sharp and resistant. Damascus steel is layered and heated
and fused by hammering. The steel folds and this arduous process is repeated
until hundreds of layers are reached. It can be twisted and reheated and flattened
again. This produces patterns in the steel that is impressive in its natural
design. The folds that cross the cutting edge, hard and soft, hard and then
soft, create a saw similar to a serrated edge. This also gives Damascus its
clarity. It is especially relevant to add Damascus knives, which some consider
superior to stainless steel knives. These handmade knives are made in a unique
way and no knife is like the other, giving each knife its original character.
Knife care tips:
Take good care of Damascus steel to avoid oxidation.
To prevent oxidation here are some tips; do not keep the
knife for long periods in the leather case. If you wash the folding blade, use
warm water and soap. Therefore, do not immerse the folding knife in water. Wash
and dry immediately. Oil or wax the blade to prevent oxidation. Wrap also in a
soft cloth and store it. Wipe off excess oil or wax before placing it in the
leather case.
For long-term storage, store the folding blade with the
leather sleeve, not in it. Do not use oils with silicone, as this can cause
oxidation. If rust appears, rub the blade with a polished metal such as brass
or a very fine steel wool, then oil or wax the blade. Wooden handles generally
benefit from a light coating of furniture wax and good hand rubbing. In
conclusion, some oils and waxes recommended for the protection and lubrication
of the blade. Camellia oil, mineral oil, carnauba wax or simple Vaseline.
Although some may prefer to use other oils and applications, they are safe to
use and will not harm you if you have residues on the blade, while other
applications can be harmful if consumed. Also, for chef knives, you can simply
use cooking oil, without salt.
